Black Belt Seminar – February 2012: Krav Maga – Mr. Kimmerly

Krav Maga - Twin Dragons Martial Arts and Fitness, Aiken, SCKrav Maga - Twin Dragons Martial Arts and Fitness, Aiken, SCThis month we were treated to a very physical BBC Seminar on Krav Maga!  According to Krav Maga Worldwide Inc., Krav Maga is the official self defense system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and has been taught to hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians in the United States.

Krav Maga is a simple, effective self defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios.  This seminar focused on blocking and defense against chokes.  Due to interest, we will have our Krav Maga 2 seminar in May that will work with weapon disarms!  The students will get a better feel for their ability and power as Mr. Kimmerly suits up to take a beating! Mark your calendars.

What great training opportunities our students have! Tang Soo!

Black Belt Seminar – October 2011: Nunchuks – Master Smith

The Black Belt Club Seminar for October was the taught by Master Smith on nunchuks. The seminar included basic strikes and blocks. The seminar also included practice drills and sparring! We also had guest instructors attend our classes and Black Belt Club Seminar this month. Thank you to Mrs. & Mr. Causby from Causby Karate Academy in Denver, North Carolina and to Mr. Jim Young from Carolina Martial arts in Anyor, South Carolina for visiting our school!

Black Belt Club Seminar – April 2011
Master Molinaro’s seminar used new approaches to the moves we know from our hyungs. This idea was one of the “governors” to our training with Master Molinaro. If your technique or body position is not following the technique or body position that we have been taught in our hyungs, then you are not doing the new technique properly. The first move Master Molinaro introduced was a cover position that protected the vital areas (as seen on his uniform). From this initial position, the counter attacks varied based on the attackers first move. Pushed, punched or grabbed from a close proximity led to a series of speedy strikes and body repositioning that used several moves from the Naihanchi and Pyung Ahn forms.

Black Belt Club Seminar – March 2011
Everyone had a great time during the BBC Seminar for March. Mr. Sanito continued with his star throwing seminar from our January seminar and added throwing knives. After throwing accuracy practice inside, the students ventured out to try their hand at throwing the real thing. The weather was wonderful and the students even got to enjoy the watermelon after the seminar. A special thanks to Ms. Miller and Ms. Mayfield for acting as safety monitors and thanks to the parents who helped cheer the students on! Wonderful job everyone!

Black Belt Club Seminar – January 2011
Our Black Belt Club Seminar for January was taught by Mr. Sanito. The topic was throwing stars. Students practiced inside the dojang with rubber stars then ventured outside to use the real thing! The seminar was great fun and full of information. Thank you Mr. Sanito!
